Komphela under pressure after fourth loss 1/39
JOHANNESBURG - Kaizer Chiefs showed solidarity with under-siege head coach Steve Komphela who came under fire on Tuesday night at the FNB Stadium after a shock 1-0 defeat at the hands of relegation battlers Jomo Cosmos.
In what was one of the club’s worst home attendance of the season, sections of the crowd stayed behind afterwards, hoping to hurl abuse at Komphela once his television interview was completed. “Steve must go,” some fans called out.

But the AmaKhosi players and the technical team anticipated the stand-off and hung around to form a human shield in order to usher off the head coach safely.
AmaKhosi had dominated all night long against Ezenkosi, who were to score with virtually their only chance of the match, five minutes from time to inflict a fourth consecutive defeat on the defending league champions.
A poor run of form has seen Chiefs being knocked out of the Nedbank Cup by arch-rivals Orlando Pirates, then losing to Platinum Stars in the Absa Premiership. That was followed by a first round, first leg CAF Champions League home defeat to ASEC Mimosa, before falling to Cosmos.
Speaking afterwards, club captain Itumeleng Khune spoke of the frustration in the Chiefs camp, voicing his full support for Komphela, who is in his first season in charge having taken over from the championship-winning Stuart Baxter
